EMBARRASSING! Uganda Not Ready to Host June AFCON Qualifier Against Algeria

By Our Reporter

Namboole National Stadium is not yet ready to host international football matches according to CAF standards and can therefore not be in position to host the June 2023 AFCON Qualifier Against Algeria.

This was revealed by the State Minister for Sports, Hon Peter Ogwang this evening of 25th April, 2023 in a tweet.

Ogwang’s position was echoed by the FUFA boss, Moses Hassim Magogo who says the match will now be held in Cameron.

“25th April, being the deadline for confirmation to CAF, FUFA has opted for Cameroon. We also plan to have 1 international friendly match against Cameroon in the same FIFA window,” Magogo says in his tweet.

Asked why Fufa could not pick any East African country, Magogo said it is only Tanzania in the CECAFA region with whom we are battling for the last available qualification slot. Ultimately, they will be supporting Algeria to beat Uganda as it improves their chances.
