Bus drivers plying Ugandan routes have been given an ultimatum in which they must start wearing Driver Badges.
According to the Public Relations Officer, Traffic Directorate, ASP Faridah Nampiima, the Bus Drivers are expected to be donning the badges effective 1st May, 2023.
“Effective May 1st, 2023, the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety will begin enforcing the use of driver badges for all bus drivers,” Nampiima says in a statement issued on 26th April, 2023.
She urged all bus operators to promptly obtain their driver badges from the Ministry of Works and Transport.
“From May 1st, 2023 onwards, no bus driver will be permitted to operate on the road without a valid driver badge,” Nampiima warns.
She has warned bus operators to refrain from allowing drivers without badges to operate their buses, in order to prevent any inconvenience.
