A 68 year old retired primary school teacher has been arrested after pleading guilty to killing his lover and hiding her body in his pit latrine.
The suspect, Robert Wabomba, aged 68 years and a resident of Simbumba village, Buwambwa parish, Mukhuyu Sub County in Namisindwa district was arrested on Friday, 5th May, 2023.
Wabomba was arrested after relatives of the missing 48 year old woman got concerned and came looking for her at his home since he was last seen with the deceased on the 3rd of March, 2023.
Upon interrogation by the relatives, Wabomba pleaded guilty and led the relatives to the pit latrine where he had dumped the body.
According to Cyrus Lumbuku, one of the residents in the area, Wabomba came with the deceased from a drinking joint at night on that fateful day of 3rd March, 2023 but after using her, he killed her and threw the body in his pit latrine.
Robert Lumbuku, the LCIII chairperson of the Mukhuyu sub county confirmed the incident saying it was the relatives of the late who searched until they went to Wabomba’s home.
He says that after interrogating Wabomba, he pleaded guilty of killing his lover but did not reveal why he did so.
The locals later alerted police who came to the scene and with the help of the locals removed the decomposing body from the pit latrine. The body was later taken to Mbale City Mortuary for postmortem, meanwhile the suspect is still detained at Namisindwa Central Police Station waiting to be produced in court after investigations are complete.
