The Jubilee Party has expelled rebellious two of its members for allegedly violating the party’s constitution and working for the United Democratic Alliance of President William Ruto.
The expulsion of EALA MP, Kanini Kega and nominated MP Sabina Chege has been ratified today, 22nd May, 2023 by Delegates at the National Delegates Conference held at Ngong Racecourse and chaired by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. In attendance was Raila Odinga, the Azimio la Umoja President.
The expulsion of the duo follows its attempt to throw out Uhuru Kenyatta from the Party leadership.
Speaking earlier, Uhuru Kenyatta had warned that he was not retiring because others threatened and forcefully attempted to remove him as Party leader.
“I thought I should retire from politics and go deal with other things. Others decided to threaten and force me. I am telling them today to look for another person, not Uhuru Kenyatta,” before adding that, “Jubilee Party has its owners, and I will remain as the party leader until they decide I should hand over.”
He had also warned that those members who were against the interests of the Jubilee Party should leave.

“Those who the Jubilee Party gave small positions cannot dictate how we will operate. If they have had a change of heart in regards to their role, do the respectful thing, go and leave us in peace,” Uhuru said.
This comes as no surprise since Jubilee national vice-chair, David Murathe had earlier disclosed that the party was working on kicking out Kega and Chege from their respective positions.
According to Murathe, the duo violated the party constitution and the laws governing political parties.
“We cannot have our member nominated and even appointed as Whip, only whip for the other side. Once a member has shifted allegiance like in this case of Kega and Chege, they are deemed to have resigned from the nominating party,” he said.
“Azimio had dewhipped Chege as deputy minority whip and speaker Moses Wetangula should effect the changes. We are now going to initiate the process of revoking her nomination to the National Assembly,” he added.
Murathe asserted that the former Kieni MP was nominated to the regional assembly by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party to which Jubilee belongs.

Meanwhile, in a move that has sparked both excitement and curiosity within the Jubilee Party, Pauline Njoroge has been appointed as the Deputy Organizing Secretary of the party.
