Police in Bulambuli district are holding a 65-year-old man for defiling two of his grandchildren after convincing them with chapatti and sweets.
The suspect is identified as David Jeremiah Baraza, a resident of Tabakonyi village, Bumufuni sub-county in Bulambuli district.
Miriam Babirye, the mother of the victims says that she has been trusting and leaving her two daughter’s one of five years and another of seven years to Baraza to take care of as a grandfather while she goes to do garden work in the morning.
She also says that today, 23rd May, 2023, Baraza convinced these two sisters with sweets and chapatti and took them to his bedroom where he defiled them from.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson says that after using both of them in what is commonly referred to as “threesome” on his bed, he cautioned them not to reveal to any one promising them more sweets, chapattis, and one thousand shillings each to buy what they want.
He adds that the victims were forced to tell their mother after feeling pain and blood coming out of their private part.
By press time, the suspect was at Bulambuli central police station waiting to appear in court and answer charges of aggravated defilement.
