A Senior Three student of Magale Secondary School in Namisindwa district has committed suicide by hanging over what close friends say, ‘a love affair gone wrong.’
The deceased is Immaculate Mukite, aged 17 years and a resident of Magale Town Council in Namisindwa district.
According to George Walubengo, an area resident, they discovered the lifeless body of Mukite hanging inside her bedroom with a cloth tied around her neck and looped on the roof on the evening of 25th May, 2023.
He says that according to her friends, the deceased was chucked by her boyfriend who fell in love with another girl.
He added that they suspect that Mukite might have committed suicide over that matter due to jealousy.
Joseph Makwa, the head teacher of Magale Secondary School says that as a school they have lost a student who has been disciplined and hard working.
He urged parents to always counsel their children against involving in love affairs while still at school.
Julie Namara, the Namisindwa Deputy Resident District Commissioner has condemned the incident saying it’s bad that the girl whose parents and the country had lots of expectations in.
By press time the body was still hanging by the cloth inside her bed room.
