Police in Bugiri have launched investigations into the brutal murder of the district inspector of schools David Tenywa Kazungu.
The body of the deceased was today discovered dumped in a pit latrine on his farm located in Nandelema village Kapyang Sub County.
The LC one chairman Nandelema village, Sula Musobya said residents neighboring the farm of the deceased informed him about a foul smell coming from the direction who in turn informed police.
Musobya said the deceased has always been visiting his farm every evening upon retiring from work to check on his two workers.
“He could always come and park his vehicle just a few meters away in order to assess the daily progress of work done while cracking jokes with his workers “he said.
The deceased’s daughter Shira Naigaba said he suspects his daddy could have been murdered by some people who are close to him.
Naigaba said she decided to file a case of the disapearnace of her father at Bugiri central police station after realizing that he was no where to be seen on Sunday.
According to a senior police officer who talked to this website on condition of anonymity said they are acting on a clue to track down suspects after realizing some anonymous person rang him asking him to go to his farm claiming to be a buyer of water melon.
“The deceased told his brother who was at home that time that he was rushing to the farm to sell some of his producebbut never returned back,”he said.
He said the same person later rang his brother on Saturday demanding a ransom of shillings 20 million claiming he had kidnapped him.
“The person is reported to have asked for the money quickly or else they pick the body from Namata swamp located a few meters away from the farm,”he said.
The body of the deceased had four deep cuts on his head and sharp scratches on his neck indicating he could have been murdered using a sharp object like a panga.
His two legs were tied together with a rope .
The deceased’s brother Amos Kalibala said he later alerted police who rushed to the farm but only recovered the vehicle of the deceased’s a premio registration number UAP 916B abandoned at the entrance to the farm.
Kalibala said his brother has on several occasions complained of some anonymous people who have been sending threatening messages on his phone.
Police in collaboration later towed the vehicle to Bugiri central police station after failing to trace his whereabouts the same day before putting up several announcements on different F.M stations asking anyone with information of his where abouts to report to the nearest police station or local council official.
Earlier this year the deceased was briefly detained at Bugiri central police station after he caught red-handed a local pastor who is one of his close neighbors within Musongola cell Bugiri municipality having sex with his wife on his bed.
The deceased pounced on the pastor beating him up before breaking window panes of his house prompting police to intervene and arrest him.
The LC 5 chairman Bugiri,Davidson Kasaija urged police speed up investigations ensure people responsible for the murder of Kazungu are arrested and prosecuted before courts of law.
“I can’t believe that someone who was chatting with me on phone on Friday evening is now pronounced dead,”he said.
The district education officer Bugiri, Stephen Kaabulo described the deceased as a hardworking, generous person who always arrived very early for work and left very late in the night.
“He could always ensure that every assignment given to him is always done within time,”he said.
The deceased Kazungu who was 50 first served as classroom teacher in several schools within Bugiri district before being appointed senior education officer and later promoted to his current rank of district inspector of schools.
The police spokesperson Busoga east, Diana Nandawula said police was hunting for the two workers who worked on his farm help in investigations into the murder.
Nandawula said police suspects the two who were at the scene of crime could have taken part in the murder or seen those involved in the murder.
