Government of Uganda is at advanced stage of allocating numerous Primary schools’ land across the country to Uganda Boxing Federation.

In Mbale City, one acre of North Road Primary school has been identified by Uganda Land Commission and also an acre in Pioneer Primary School or Moslem Primary School in Soroti City.

This is a contained in a letter addressed to the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni by the Acting Chairperson of Uganda Land Commission, Prof. Nyeko Pen Mogi dated 10th May, 2023.

The letter is seeking for no objections from the Education Ministry to allocate land of the schools identified to the Uganda Boxing Federation.

Other schools identified are Kitante Primary School or Nakivubo Green Primary school where the Federation will get two acres in Kampala City, 1 acre from Masaka Secondary school, Prisons Primary school or Layibi Primary school in Gulu city.

Others are; Mbarara Secondary School or Mbarara Municipal Primary school in Mbarara City, Kigezi High School or Kigezi Primary School in Kabale town, Kasese Primary School or Kasese Secondary School in Kasese town.

The Land Commission also wants land from Busia Border Primary School or Busia Integrated Primary School in Busia town, Luweero Secondary School or Luweero Boys Primary school in Luweero town, Arua Primary School or Mvara Secondary school in Arua City and Duhanga Secondary School in Hoima City.

In Jinja, the Commission has proposed an acre either in Walukuba Primary school or Narambayi Primary school.

According to Prof. Nyeko, the identification of the land in the various schools follows a directive from President Museveni that land be identified from schools across the country for the establishment of boxing facilities.

“We received a directive from H.E the President in a letter dated 23rd January, 2023 to allocate land to Uganda Boxing Federation in different parts of the country,” reads the letter written by Uganda Land Commission.

The purpose of the facilities is to promote boxing across the country especially among the youths, the reason schools have been targeted.
