Government Finally Agrees to Tarmac Kufu-Namisindwa 9 KM Road

The Ministry of Works under Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has finally agreed to tarmac 9 kms Kufu to Namisindwa road.

The Ministry of Works in this financial year, 2022/2023 allocated 20 billion shillings to construct five bridges and tarmacking one-kilometer road from each constructed bridge at Kufu-Namisindwa road and works commenced this year in January which will end in December this year.

This disturbed leaders of Namisindwa district forcing two area legislators Apollo Masika of Namisindwa County and John Musila of Bubulo East constituency to lobby the Ministry of Works for the tarmacking of the whole road than doing parts.

Sharp Tumwine, the engineer working with UNRA heading the ongoing works during the inspection of the same road this weekend revealed to this website that after the end of ongoing works, they are going to resume working on the whole road with additional funds he didn’t mention.

Julie Namara, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Namisindwa expressed her happiness with the pronouncement saying that farmers from hard-to-reach areas like Mukoto, Buwabwala, and Tsekululu among others will transport their agric products to Mbale town.

She adds that currently, the farmers struggle to bring their products to Mbale for selling due to that road being impassable.
