NATIONAL
The Judiciary has made new deployments of 20 Chief Magistrates, 8 Assistant Registrars, and 14 Deputy Registrars.
In a press statement issued on 5th June, 2023, 8 districts of Kalangala, Budaka, Bugiri, Butambala, Sembabule, Mitooma, Yumbe and Bundibugyo have received Chief Magistrates.
Meanwhile, 4 deputy registrars, 3 Assistant Registrars and 3 Acting Assistant Registrars have been transferred. 4 Chief Magistrates, 5 Acting Chief Magistrates and 4 Grade One Magistrates have also been moved.
According to the Chief Registrar, Sarah Langa Siu, courts with case backlogs have been given additional Chief Magistrates. These include; Nakawa, Mbarara, and Mengo Chief Magistrates Court.
Additionally, High Court Division Registries of land division, Commercial and Family with high case backlogs have also been beefed up with additional Deputy and Assistant Registrars to expedite the hearing of interlocutory matters.
