BULAMBULI
Musugu government aided primary school in Bulugunya Sub County in Bulambuli district is still closed two weeks after the opening of second term.
The scenario has left parents and pupils stranded raising concern amongst stakeholders.
Two weeks ago, a landslide hit the area killing five people, injuring two, destroying properties like crops, houses including all toilets and teachers houses of Masugu primary school.
According to Samuel Mudenge, one of the parents, his two children are still at home since the new second term was opened.
He adds that Masugu has been the only nearby school where his children can seek education from.
Harriet Nanduga, another parent says that the future of their children is now gone unless the government fixes the problems the school has and they re-open it in time.
However, Stanley Bayola, the Bulambuli Resident District Commissioner (RDC) says that they closed the school to save the lives of children since rains were still on and all toilets and teachers’ houses were buried by the landslide.
He says that they told parents to take their children to the neighboring school until the district has reopened the school.
