Shock and tears at Central ward, Mutufu town council in Sironko district after fire gutted Elgon junior nursery and primary private school dormitory.
According to Philomoni Madoi, one of the parents, the fire gutted the boy’s hostel at 3am today.
He adds that some pupils who were inside after seeing the fire alerted their colleagues and escaped through windows.
Joel Wadada, one of the teachers says that no child was burnt or injured from this fire but all their properties like books, clothes, among others were completely burnt into ash.
Keneth Madoi, the area LC1 chairperson blamed police for delaying to reach the scene which led to the burning of the whole hostel with all properties of pupils yet they were alerted in time.
Ephraime Denis Balwaniregha, the Sironko Resident District Commissioner has confirmed the incident saying the fire was caused by short circuit of Electricity.
He warned parents against blame games saying police fire brigade was got from Mbale which is far.
