Mbale police have rescued a two months old baby boy from being sacrificed by Sarah Nambuya, 28 year old woman who had stolen him from his biological parents house.
Nambuya is a resident of Lufigi village, Madega parish, Bubyangu Sub County in Mbale district.
It’s alleged that on Tuesday, 4th July,2023, parents of the victim Nansuru Wadada and Zadina Nambuya, also residents of the same village had gone to do garden work in the morning leaving the baby (victim) at home with other children.
Nambuya went to the parent’s home and found children playing, she gave them money to go and buy Soda and Chapatti at a nearby shop leaving the baby inside sleeping alone, then grabbed the baby and took him away to nearby shrine for sacrifice.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, police was tipped off and immediately swung into action and rushed to the shrine where they got the baby wrapped in kavera and crying.
He adds that Nambuya was arrested but her brother Hussein Lugoli, the witchdoctor and owner of the shrine is on the run.
