An angry Mob has in retaliation burnt 5 permanent houses and three huts in Nabugalo Trading Center, Bukomolo Zone, Kamerika, Sub County in Budaka district.
According to Immaculate Emily Also, the Bukedi North Police Spokesperson, the incident occured on Saturday, 22nd July, 2023 at about 10:00pm.
Alaso says the incident happened in retaliation after relatives of Private Martine Mbayo, a UPDF officer who is alleged to have been murdered by Kanyanta’s son known as Robert Kanyanta all residents of the same area took the law into their hands.
The relatives of the deceased blamed Kanyata for murding their son which prompted them to cause such damage.
She adds that houses which were burnt and destroyed belong to Erick Kanyanta, David Masuge and that of Robert Kanyanta alias Tibaruka
Police also says that other items which were destroyed during the conflicts are animals, crops , trees among others.
Alaso warned people in the region against holding laws in their hands saying that they are investigating into the matter and any body who will be found behind this will be arrested and face the law.
