KATAKWI
A youthful group of activists in Katakwi have on 29th of July started a door to door visit to vulnerable households.

Odoot Charity Group shocked residents when they solicited daily necessities (food items) worth six hundred thousand shillings and delivered to the needy persons in the villages of Tutum, Akwaradada in Odoot parish Ngariam County.
Stephen Otukei the chairman of Odoot Charity Group said they used the Shs600,000 for purchasing basics like; soap, sugar, cooking oil, among others.
“People are very poor and seriously in need of help from well-wishers that’s why I call upon all the responsible people to join hands and support them in anyway” Otukei stated.
The beneficiaries that include; Godilipha, Ojur Peter, Okure Florence, Aima Basilisa among others applauded the team of youth saying they have never received such support apart from these well-wishers.

The group members like, Charles Alemukori, Simon Atubi, Julius Aleper, Robert Koluo and others said, they will continue helping the needy.
They added that this is not political but urged well-wishers to embrace donating to such group of persons.
The beneficiaries are of the age between 80 to 100 years who can’t afford a meal because of their age.
It should be put on record that, many people mostly aged persons are living in hard situations without visible support even if some benefit from government SAGE program that pays 25,000 in a month.
Counties of Usuk Toroma and Ngariam in Katakwi District are in need of support from the government, civil society organizations and other well-wishers so as to improve the state of vulnerable.
The report from Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development two years back showed Katakwi to be having a total of over 2,000 registered elderly persons receiving SAGE.
