UPDF Airforce Helicopter Crash Lands in Karamoja

A Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Airforce helicopter was forced to crash land in Karamoja over the weekend.

 

According to Felix Kulaigye, the Defence Spokesperson, the incident involving MI-24 Gunship Registration number AF 822 happened on Saturday, 29th July, 2023 at Nadiket village, 5.3 kilometer from Moroto military barracks, Loptuk sub County in Moroto district.

 

He says the helicopter was on routine operations in Karamoja sub region under the 3rd Division area of operation.

 

The pilot and all the three crew members who were aboard the helicopter survived without any injuries.

 

The cause of the accident is yet to be established.

“The cause of the crash landing will be established by a technical team of UPDF Airforce experts,” Kulaigye says.

 

The Army warns locals against accessing the scene of the crash landing.
