BUTEBO: Kanginima Sec. School Students Arrested for Striking over Arrest of Teachers

Police in Butebo district have today Tusday, 8th August 2023 arrested over ten students for staging a strike against the arrest of the school staff members over the weekend.


Over the weekend, a  night guard and an ICT teacher identified as Kamusyo Abdul of Kanginima seed secondary school were arrested to help police in investigation after unknown people broke into school computer lab and stole computers worthy  80 million shillings.


Today morning students protested by closing the gate entering the school with writings saying “don’t risk to enter”.


This paralyzed the business at school until police came and arrested ring leaders of the strike and are now being detained at Butebo central police station.


Emily Immaculate Alaso, the North Bukedi police sporksperson has confirmed the incident saying they also recovered some items like stones, three liter jerry can of petrol, sticks among others that the students were going to use in harming the school.


She add that police is now ascertaining if any other party was involved and will have the same brought to book, and have the situation normalized as investigations into the alleged case continue.
