MBALE CITY
Three people have been confirmed dead and another eight in critical condition after being involved in a nasty accident this morning at 11.am, 23rd August 2023 at Namunsi Trading Center, Northern City Division, Mbale City along Mbale Sironko Road.
The deceased have been identified as; Iddi Isko driver resident of Sironko, Ismail Muyindi conductor from Kaduwa village in Sironko and Khakimu Magobe a resident of Moni Ward, Industrial city division in Mbale city. They were all in the ill fated Taxi with registration number UBX 566B from Mbale city heading to Sironko.
According to Moses Mutabingwe, the Elgon region traffic police officer, the taxi collided with a UBL 027E black pajero vehicle that was coming from Sironko side haeding to Mbale City.
He adds that the driver of Pajero whose identity has not yet been established is on the run while the eight people who got injuries from the taxi are currently receiving treatment at Mount Elgon hospital, and Mbale regional referral hospital.
Mutabingwe also says that the two vehicles are currently at Northern city division CPS Nakaloke as they continue with investigations to prove what caused the accident.
