The embattled Minister for Karamoja Affairs also Woman Member of Parliament representing Manafwa district has cautioned youths against copying Western values.
Mary Gorret Kitutu made the call on Thursday 31st August 2023 at Bubulo Girls High School located at Manafwa Town Council in Manafwa district while closing a one week youth conference organized by St. Andrews Cathedral Mbale Diocese .
The minister said some youths due to money are being used by whites to spread toxic Western culture like homosexuality, lesbianism, and skimpy dressing.
Kitutu also adds that even the bible and African Traditional Society condemn such acts but whites are bitter with Uganda after passing the Anti-Homosexuality Bill into law.
Samuel Wabulakha, the former Bishop of Mbale diocese who represented John Wilson Nadaah, the Bishop of Mbale diocese urged youths to respect and fear God for the beginning of their wisdom.
He urged government to stand firm and not be threatened by the World Bank’s decision to suspend its loan facilities to Uganda saying whites must respect the cultures of Africans other than forcing them to inherit theirs.
Robert Wanzala, the Assistant Youth Worker at Mbale Diocese said the purpose of the youth conference was to train youths about good behaviors, how to love God, and how to do house work among others.
He added that they want youths to be good fathers and mothers in future.
