Two health workers attached to Bugobero health center IV have been arrested for neglecting their duty leading to the death of an expectant mother and her unborn baby.
The Suspects, Sarah Bulira aged 44 years and Sandra Chemusto, 37 years and all midwives at Bugobero health center IV were arrested on Friday 1st September, 2023.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, the two were arrested after the death of Billa Nabisawa with her child during delivery which the community alleged was due to neglect.
Taitika says that it was reported that the two health workers never gave attention to the expectant mother.
He adds that the two are at Manafwa CPS as investigations continue saying the two are likely to answer charges of Rush and Negligent Act causing death.
