Namisindwa Landslide Leaves 9 in Critical Condition

Nine people are currently in critical conditions, 83 houses buried with crops destroyed after landslides hit five parishes in Bungati sub county Namisindwa district.
The affected parishes are Five parish Buwambete ,Busela, Bukulungi, Bushibuta, and Bukhasame.
According to Stephen Wakoli the LC3 chairperson of Buganti Sub County, people who were injured are Tomas Nasimolo , Robert Laso, Moses Wakhata, Joseph Kutosi , Stephen Matembela, Alex  Matembela  , Mutenyo Kibeti, and  Rogers Tingu.
Wakoli adds that land slide hit the area last evening, 12th September, 2024 after rain pounded the area since morning.
He adds that beside 83 houses which were buried, animals ,crops like maize, beans, coffee among others were also buried by the land slide.
The LCIII also says that the injured nine  people were hit by rolling stones and mud and are now nursing injuries at Butuwa health center III located at Kato Sub county in Manafwa district.
Emma Bwayo the youth male district  councilor says that cracks have also been sighted at Bumbo town, Bumbo Sub county and Bukokho sub county.
He expressed his bitterness with the government for always telling people to vacate to safer areas during such time rather than coming up with a permanent solution at Namisindwa and other disaster prone districts in Bugisu.
By press time, no red cross or district leader had reached at the scene.
