Queen Agnes Rita Amuge, the Miss Tourism Teso First Runner Up 2023/2024 has embarked on her journey to create awareness about the tourism industry in Teso region.
Through her tourism ambassador initiative, Queen Amuge aims at empowering young individuals to become leaders in the tourism sector.
The program fosters positive change and ensures a more sustainable and responsible future for travels and clean environment.
According Amuge, young people are crucial in shaping the future of tourism industry in Uganda.
In this program, Queen Amuge visits different schools and speaks to young people who are interested in the sector to take up the responsibility of upholding sustainable tourism principles.
In her visits to schools, learners are taught development skills and knowledge on how they can keep their environment clean by turning plastic waste into materials that can be used and hence recycling and reducing their burden on the environment.
With this initiative, Queen Amuge envisions a tourism sector being championed by the young generation.
“We named it tourism ambassadors because I want to groom a young generation that is more responsible for tourism industry,” Amuge says.
