The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has today 20th October 2023 arraigned before court David Balondemu, the Kampala District Land Board Chairperson.
Balondemu who appeared before the KCCA Chief Magistrates Court was charged with obtaining money by false pretense
from a Korean Investor.
Balondemu and other accused that include Mugisha James Jeff and Maviri Godfrey allegedly defrauded USD600,000 (UGX2.2B) from the investor in a 53kg gold scam.
It is alleged that between August and November 2021, a Korean investor, Hyun Uk Kim was defrauded in a 53kg gold scam in Kampala. The investor was introduced to the deal by Mugisha James Jeff who knew the alleged gold seller, Balondemu.
Balondemu has been remanded to Luzira Prison till 6th November 2023.
