Five leaders at Namwenule Ward, Bumbo Town Council in Namisindwa district have been arrested over allegations of registering non residents for the Parish Development Model Program.
The leaders who were arrested today 20th October 2023 are; Moses Situma, the Namwenule PDM SACCO chairperson, Rogers Muchungi LCI Chairman Nabingenge cell, Ibrahim Wangati LCI chairperson of Katuta cell, Fred Safari LCI chairperson of Namwenula and Ronnie Situma.
People who were illegally registered in that SACCO but are not residents of the parish are Brian Mezi ghost member, Aidah Simiyu from Magale Town Council, Bernard Simiyu from Bukokho Sub County, Bernard Wangolo from Bumwoni, and Situma Ronnie from Bubutu Sub County.
The arrest was ordered by Imran Mulunga, the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner while chairing a PDM meeting at Namwenule Ward, Bumbo Town Council after news published by this website that locals of Namwenula Ward stormed the home of their area Member of Parliament, John Musila after getting allegations that their leaders have registered people from Kenya for the PDM Program.
Muluga held a meeting today with other district leaders like district chairperson, DPC, area Member of Parliament among other area local leaders to come up with facts about the media report.
The RDC ordered the five to go with the DPC and record statements at Namisindwa Central Police Station over registering members who are not from the parish which breaks the guidelines of PDM.
Joseph Kamuli, the LCIII chairperson of Bumbo Town Council has cautioned the remaining leaders who are playing with this PDM government program to take that as a lesson.
John Musila representing Bubulo East constituency has expressed his happiness with the arrest of the five saying the PDM program in the district will now move on smoothly.
He urged the leaders to follow guidelines which were given to them such that people can benefit from this program.
By press time, the five were still at Namisindwa Central Police Station making statements.
