BUDAKA: Double Deaths as Mob Lynches Killer Thief

Two bodies are lying at Jami cell, Kamonkoli Town Council in Budaka district after an angry mob lynched a thief who had earlier killed a resident whom he had gone to rob.

 

The double shocking incident took place on the night of Thursday, 19th October 2023 from about 1:00am onwards.

 

The deceased resident is only known as Mbayo whereas the identity of the thief was yet to be confirmed, but locals say he may have come from Sironko district.

 

While speaking to our reporter, Catherine Mbayo, wife of the deceased said the thief entered their house at 1:00am to steal household items.

 

She adds that when her husband tried to fight him, he cut him with a sharp panga on the head killing him on spot due to over bleeding.

 

Mbayo also narrated that she made an alarm which attracted neighbors who chased after the suspected thief until he was caught. They then lynched him that very night.

 

She says she also got some injuries on the hand after the same thug cut her.

 

Rogers Poti, the chairman LC1 of Jami Village has confirmed the incident saying of late thugs have been on the rise in his area.

 

He adds that the suspected thief who killed his resident is suspected to be a resident of Sironko District.

 

By press time, police of Budaka district had not yet picked the bodies from the scene of crime.

 

However, the injured Mrs. Mbayo has been taken to Mbale regional referral hospital for treatment.
