SOROTI CITY
Police in Soroti spent their better afternoon today, 23rd October, 2023 in running battles characterized by tear gas against stones pelted by an angry mob who wanted to lynch a man only identified as Ramathan Ochen Aka Raga.
The angry mob were neighbors of the deceased Sauda Amedo who was allegedly killed at night by her concubine, Raga.
A close neigbor told this website that on Saturday, Sauda Amedo, a local brewer of waragi in Kichinjaji ward and her hubby only identified as Ramathan Ochen Aka Raga had a wrangle inside their house over an unknown matter.
Yesterday, the 22nd October she said Amedo was not at home.
“She called me and asked me whether the man was there, I said no. The door is locked and he has left.
So she asked me to find a way of opening the door that she wants to come and change clothes. So I told her, there is no way. Now at around 1am to 2am in the morning I heard the door open, I thought they were the ones who were returning home and opening the door,” she narrates while sobbing.
The neighbor explained that in the morning she called Amedo to fetch water but she didn’t get any response.
“I tried to knock the door, no response. I left for work in town thinking she was still sleeping, only to be called that Sauda has been found dead in the house,” She said.
Peter Olaki, the deceased brother said he was called while he was in Arua that his sister had died.
“I was called that my sister is dead, I reacted ha..it’s not true she is not dead, so I came picked local council one and my elder so we came and found that true she is dead,” he said.
He alleges that the Suspect has been a notorious thief and had concubined with his sister for about three months.
By press time, Amedo’s body had been conveyed to Nakatunya mortuary for a postmortem.
