Kidepo Valley National Park located in the remote district of Kaabong in the Karamoja region is set to have an Airport after President Museveni gave a green light to Arab investors to construct one.
While meeting with H.E. Abdalla Sultan Alowais, the Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the UAE and his delegation, President Museveni okayed their proposal but warned them to be cautious about the safety of wildlife in the park.
The Delegation was at State House to brief the President on the project to construct an Airport in the Kidepo Valley.
“This airport is a welcome investment, especially for the service sector and tourism. I advised the group to be mindful of the safety of the wildlife in the park. I welcome them and wish them good luck,” President Museveni later wrote on his X handle.
Kidepo Valley National Park is situated in Kaabong district in Northeastern Uganda. By estimate, it is about 510 Kilometers by road form Kampala – Uganda’s capita.
Kidepo Park has a healthy population of the Big Five except for lack of Rhionos. These include Cheetahs, Caracals, Hyenas, Jackals, Klipspringers, Aardwolves, Bat Eared Foxes, Dik diks, Ostriches and Greater and Lesser Kudus.
Kidepo is also the ultimate definition of remote, reason few tourists go there because it is a hard to reach area.
