Police in Busia district have arrested 25 people with dangerous weapons during an operation on Monday, 4th December, 2023.
The operation was carried out in notorious places like Marachi and Mugungu located within Busia municipality.
According to Moses Mugwe, the police spokesperson of Bukedi south, the operation was carried out by a combination of local leaders, locals and police after getting complaints from locals in the municipality about increased cases of theft, rape and defilement caused by idle youths who smoke marijuana and opium.
He named the arrested people as Topha Tigalana, Sula Mugoya, Amir Sengendo, Aisa Anyala, Hassein Okot, Alima Masai among others.
Mugwe also says that they impounded items like solido wires, knives, pangas, Axes, and clubs which are also at police central station in Busia.
