The Entebbe Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Jackie Kankunda, has finally handed over office after two weeks following her transfer to Mbarara City.

The handover ceremony that took place on Monday, 4th December, 2023 was witnessed by Wakiso RDC Justine Mbabazi, Ex- NRM MP Aspirant, Steven Shyaka Gasaija and leaders of the ruling party in Entebbe Municipality.

Ms Kankunda painfully handed over her sweet office to Hakim Kirigwa who was transferred from Buikwe district where he was a deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC).

In her speech, outgoing RDC Kankunda dispelled social media rumors that she had refused to hand-over office to her successor saying she needed time to prepare before she could handover office to Hakim Kirigwa. She adds that she requested for the transfer after serving for close to 2years.

She revealed that the hardest task she battled with during her tenure in office was the issue of land grabbers in Entebbe sub district. She however cautioned her successor not to give room to land grabbers saying they’re so tempting with dime.

The new Entebbe RDC Hakim Kirigwa, asked locals to cooperate with him and pledged to put much emphasis on security of the area.

The Wakiso Resident District commissioner (RDC), Justine Mbabazi, who witnessed the handover ceremony, reminded both the outgoing and incoming RDCS that they are subject to transfer to any part of the country and asked locals to cooperate with the new RDC to ease service delivery.
