JUST IN: Balaba Takes Over as Permanent Secretary, OPM Replacing Late Muhakanizi

The Office of the Prime Minister has today 18th December, 2023 received a new Permanent Secretary replacing the late Keith Muhakanizi.

 

Keith Muhakanizi died on April 13, 2023 in a hospital in Milan, Italy after a long illness. For the last two years, Muhakanizi served as Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) where he was often on medical leave until he passed on.

 

Dunstan Balaba, former Buikwe Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) took over the reins at the Prime Minister’s office having served as CAO in many districts including Tororo, Mayuge, Kabale among others.

 

Ms Rose Alenga, who has been acting Permanent Secretary, handed over office to Mr Balaba during the weekly meeting of the Ministry’s Technical Committee.

 

While announcing the development, Robbinah Nabanja, the Prime Minister welcomed Balaba saying he is a seasoned civil servant with over 32 years of experience.

 

“Before his recent deployment to our office, he was serving as the Chief Administrative Officer for Buikwe District. We warmly welcome our new PS,” Nabbanja wrote on twitter.
