A Namisindwa district based businessman is in tears after losing Shs40M to robbers who raided his home on Sunday night.
According to John Wafula, the LCIII chairperson of Bukokho Sub County, the victim is Robert Buyula, a resident of Namagole village, Sono parish, Bukokho Sub County in Namisindwa district.
He says that the gunmen went to Buyula’s home at midnight and ordered him to open the door. When he opened the door, the armed robbers forced him to move with them to Bunjosi trading centre where he operates his mobile money business from and told him to give him all the money which was at the shop that time.
Wafula says that after getting information that thugs have taken money, he tried to call the OC of the nearby Bumbo police station but he did not come to the scene until the thugs went with all the money.
The LCIII also says that locals tried to mobilise themselves to chase the thugs but they fired in the air which scared them.
Jackson Wakwaika, the LCV chairperson of Namisindwa has raised concern over insecurity cases which have increased in the district since first this month.
He urged security leaders in the district to sit and look for a long lasting solution to these insecurity problems such that people in the district can have peace.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, has confirmed the incident saying that police are investigating the matter.
