The embattled Minister for Karamoja Affairs has run to the High Court challenging the fresh Inspectorate of Government summons.
Mary Goretti Kitutu was supposed to appear before the IGG on Thursday, 11th January, 2024 to answer queries on how she spent Supplementary funds released in FY 2021/22 for Karamoja region.
The Summons is in relation to the Supplementary funds released to the Prime Minister’s Office to support Peace building activities in the Karamoja Sub region in FY 2021/22.
However, immediately the summons was issued, the Minister’s lawyer, Jude Byamukama protested saying it is an attempt by Kamya and her team to resurrect investigations when his client is supposed to undergo trial.
The summons comes at a time when the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court has ordered for the trial of the minister.
True, their protest, Kitutu on Thursday, filed a case in the High Court challenging summons by the Inspectorate of Government.
Kitutu also skipped the summons yesterday, sending her lawyer instead who said the Minister was unwell and could not attend the summons in person.
Kitutu’s case is scheduled to be heard on 22 January, 2024.
