Manafwa District Local Government has finally reached an agreement with its debtors to save the Toyota Double Cabin that was due for auctioning.
On Wednesday, a newspaper ran an advertisement as Mbale high court ordered for the auctioning of Manafwa district local government double cabin vehicle over failure to pay Shs17.8M to Wamukota and Nandaa Advocates.
However, on Thursday, 11th January, 2024, the district led by Kosea Kimono the LC5 chairperson held a closed door meeting with Wamukota & Nandaa Advocates and Michael Bichacha Nambehe, the district chief financial officer.
The meeting where the media was locked out eventually reached an agreement with Bichacha and his Lawyers accepting the district’s terms to save the vehicle.
After the meeting, Kimono briefed our reporter saying they had harmonized the matter and the district is going to clear all the money which the lawyers demand the district.
He says the delay in payment of the money was CAO’s mistake to delay to order for payments adding that both parties agreed to withdraw the Court order of selling the district vehicle.
Bichacha Nambehe when contacted agreed that they had a meeting saying for the good of the district, his lawyers have agreed to ceasefire and be paid money as promised by the district.
