Police in Tororo Municipality have bust a criminals’ hideout and arrested one suspect with crucial evidence.
The operation led by DPC SP Kimuli Adam on Sunday, 18th February, 2024 supported by Intelligence/CID/Operations/SOCO units, led to a successful raid on a suspected den of notorious thugs in Bison Cell, Western Division, Tororo Municipality, Tororo District.
According to Moses Mugwe, the Bukedi South Police Spokesperson, one suspect, believed to be a prominent member of the criminal group, was arrested after being found in possession of a number of incriminating items.
Mugwe names the items as; burglary tools, master keys, camouflage clothing, suspected intoxicants, and stolen motorcycle parts, notably Bajaj Boxer BM 150 motorcycles.
“These motorcycles, recovered in red/black colors, were identified as stolen property, with altered registration plates in an attempt to conceal their origin,” says Mugwe.
He says that police has withheld the suspect’s identity for security reasons, pending ongoing investigations at CPS Tororo.
“Cooperation from the suspect is expected to further aid law enforcement efforts in revealing the extent of criminal activities,” says Moses Mugwe.
Efforts are underway to retrieve references and CRB records, while inquiries continue to uncover additional details.
More details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
