Government through the Ministry of Public Service has set dates for validation of Public Officers who missed the verification exercise that was undertaken by the Auditor General last year, 2023.
This was revealed by the Minister of State for Public Service, Hon. Mary Mugasa Akiiki while addressing the media on the extraction of workers from the payroll today, 7th March, 2024.
Mugasa said that the Ministry of Public Service will continue with validation of Public Officers who missed the verification exercise, those partially verified and absent on official duty/ study or sick leave.
The exercise will run from 11th March to 17th May 2024 from Monday to Friday, 08:00 am to 05:00 pm at the National Archives and Records Centre (NARC)- Kampala, next to Ministry of Health Headquarters, Kampala on Lourdel Road.
“The affected Public Officers should appear on the dates indicated against their Votes. The dates are indicated in the Schedules that can be accessed on public service website, public service.go.ug or from the Offices of the Responsible Officers,” she said.
She also revealed that 338,966 Public Officers in Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Local Governments using either the payroll maintained by the Ministry of Public Service or using their own payroll systems were fully verified and thus recommended for retention on the payroll.
24,757 Public Officers in Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Local Governments using either the payroll maintained by the Ministry of Public Service or using their own payroll systems were partially verified and recommended for temporary retention on the payroll.
1,886 Public Officers in Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs) and Local Governments ,(LGs) using either the payroll maintained by the Ministry of Public Service or using their own payroll systems who were not verified but were accounted for as being officially absent.
