SOROTI
At least 3600 famers in Teso sub region have been taken under training of agro business agriculture.
The training was conducted by Ateker Development Foundation in conjunction with SOCADIDO, a Non-governmental organization at Paxland Motel Western Division in Soroti City on Wednesday, 6th March, 2024.
According to Ben Boham Okiror, the project manager, the main aim of this initiative is to see that all farmers from Teso sub region will cope with agribusiness agriculture in order to sustain their living.
He added that the project has managed to help over 3600 famers in the districts of Soroti, Soroti city, Ngora, Katakwi, Kalaki, Kaberamaido, Amuria, and Kapelebyong.
“Our target is to see that every farmer in Teso sub region is able to produce quality products for domestic use and income orientation,” said Okiror.
Okiror said the area of focus is cassava, simsim, soya beans, fish farming, and bee keeping.
Richard Ocen, one of the famers who was a participant, appreciated ADEFO for the training and promised to put it into practice in order to achieve what he has learnt.
Ocen from Opuyo in Eastern division in Soroti city told this website that leaders should join hands with Ateker Development Foundation in order to change the status of the community in Teso sub region.
Stella Kokoi, Soroti city production officer, applauded Ateker Development Foundation and SOCADIDO for the great initiative.
She said that as production officer, she is going to engage all the stakeholders and farmers to support the program.
Michael Odeke, Civil initiative for peace Uganda who was also the chairman of the training thanked ADEFO for spearheading the initiative as a multi-actor organization for Teso sub region.
However, Michael Omaria, the Diocesan Development Coordinator, SOCADIDO, Caritas Soroti who graced the training thanked the participants for their time toward changing the mindset.
He urged the beneficiaries to take the training positively and share with others so that Teso sub-region can get changed in agriculture.
