MBALE CITY
The Police fraternity of Mbale Central Division is in deep shock after one of their own was knocked dead in a deadly late night road accident.
The late Sgt Bernard Okwakol was on the night of Thursday, 7th March, 2024 knocked by a yet to be identified Trailer at around 1:00AM.
According to the Elgon region Police Spokesperson, SP Rogers Taitika, the accident occurred at the Y junction of Nabuyonga Rise Road along Mbale- Kumi road opposite Tobin Hospital.
He says the deceased who was riding Motorcycle Reg no UED 274A Bajaji boxer was heading towards Kumi direction was knocked by the Trailer that was joining Mbale- Kumi Rd as it was coming from Nabuyonga Rise Road.
The deceased who Taitika describes as one who has been a dedicated officer has been in the Police Force for 19 years having joined in 2005.
Okwakol who hails from Serere district is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday, 9th March, 2024.
By the time of filing this story, his body was still at the Mbale City Mortuary pending postmortem.
