Over 30 former RDCs, RCCs and their Deputies including acquitted Eric Sakwa, have petitioned President Museveni to come to their rescue, saying they were abruptly dropped or reshuffled- and now face significant financial hardships.

The RDCs who claim that the numerous reminders they have been writing to President Museveni have not been answered, decided today, 11th March, 2024 to make the petition through the Media.

The RDCs say they have been writing reminder letters to the President since 2022.

Reading a memo aimed at the President, the former RDCs insinuate that there several letters addressed to the President seem not to be reaching, yet some of their colleagues were resettled.

“We believe by this gesture our appointing authority will get access to our message,” the lead petitioner said.

The RDCs, RCCs and Deputies are now requesting a direct meeting with President Museveni to air their grievances.

The former RDCs say in addition to the financial constraints, they have also found it very difficult to fit in their communities.

This is a group of RDCs who lost their jobs in 2022 reshuffle and are now jobless.

Speaking to the media at the sidelines of the briefing, Sakwa said he suffered at the hands of land grabbers in Jinja City who framed him up for murder, a case he later won in September, 2022.

Despite being exonerated by Court, Sakwa says, the appointing authority still dropped him and yet he had sold everything he had to pay legal fees.

“I pray, that his Excellency, the President comes to our rescue and also give us resettlement packages, like some of our colleagues got,” Sakwa said.
