SAD! First Masaba Cultural Leader Dies at 84

There is sadness at Masaba land as the first leader of Masaba Cultural institution also the first LC5 Chairperson of Mbale, Wamimbi Weyasa dies.
According to Stephen Masiga, the spokesperson of Masaba Cultural institution, Wamimbi died yesterday, Friday, 12th April, 2024 at 8.pm from Kirundu hospital, Kampala City.
He says that late Wamimbi has been battling with pneumonia for the last one year.
Masiga says that as Masaba Cultural institution, they have lost a very important and irreplaceable leader.
The PRO also says that during the era of Wamimbi as cultural leader , he respected the constitution by ruling for only 5 years not like late Bob Mushikori who went beyond 5 years term and attempeted to amend the constitution for life rulling.
He says that as Masaba Cultural institution has written to the ministry of gender and social development to grant him a state funeral as mandated by law.
Late  Wamimbi was born in 1930s and is estimated to have died at the age of 84 years.
He first worked at Sheraton hotel as board member then later joined teaching at Nabumli high school then in 1992 he contested for Mbale district LC5 and went through.
After serving as Mbale district LC5 chairperson for six years, president Museveni appointed him as ambassador to Canada in 1998.
Later in 2010 he served as first Cultural leader of Inzu ya Masaba for five years.
