Uganda Railways Corporation has resumed passenger train services along the Kampala-Namanve route after a series of renovations that commenced last year.

This was revealed by URC on Tuesday, 23rd April, 2024, “Start Where You Are. Use What You Have. Do What You Can But Do Not Forget Where You Have To Be. Greetings, Uganda. We Are Back.”

According to URC, full operations shall start on 2nd May, 2024 with two morning trips and two evening trips.

The first morning trip starts at 6:40 AM from Namanve, the second at 7:45AM and passengers that will be in Kampala at the time the morning trains reach the City and want to travel to Namanve will be transported back along the route.

The first evening trip will leave Kampala at 5:30PM while the second trip takes off at 6:50PM.

This follows a successful preparatory test run undertaken by the Company along the Kampala – Namanve Passenger Service route on recently with URC saying the ride was smooth to the extent that one can ride with your coffee in hand, without the fear of spilling it.

Meanwhile, URC says afternoon trips will be introduced with the arrival of more rolling stock. DMUs and more coaches expected in about a year.

Passengers will pay Shs2,000 only per trip.
