Residents of Bubutu Town Council Cell, Bubutu Town Council in Namisindwa district have censured their LCI Chairperson and replaced him with his Defence Secretary over theft allegations.
The censuring exercise was conducted by Moses Mutambo, the LC3 chairperson of Bubutu Town Council at TC Cell on Monday, 13th May, 2024.
Last Friday, a Sniffer dog led police and residents to Fred Masika’s home after unknown thugs raided two shops making off with Shs10M the previous night.
Still in March this year, the same LCI Chairperson was involved in stealing a cow belonging to one resident where he pleaded guilty and paid Shs1M fine to the owner after meat was discovered at his home.
According to Mutambo, locals themselves asked for the replacement of Mutambo after being involved in criminal acts instead of keeping security as Chairperson.
He adds that after censuring him, two candidates aspired; Apollo Lubusha who was his vice and Martin Kito who has been defence Secretary.
During voting, Kito got 150 votes beating Lusha who got only 4 votes.
Samuel Musawu, one of the residents expressed his happiness saying this is going to bring sanity in the area.
