The grand opening date of the refurbished Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium now called Hamz Stadium has been set.
According to Hamis Kiggundu, the man behind the renovation of Uganda’s oldest stadium, the Grand opening will take place on the 1st June, 2024 with a variety of Sports and Entertainment activities.
Sports activities will include boxing, basketball, netball, football and Kickboxing amidst fireworks.
Kiggundu has also invited 30 music stars including Shebah, Chameleone, Bebe Cool, Eddy Kenzo, Ray G among others.
The gates shall open at 9:00AM with the cheapest tickets going at Shs50,000 Ordinary, Shs100,000 VIP and Shs150,000 for Executive.
President Museveni commissioned the stadium on 25 April 2024. It will have a total seating capacity of 35,000 people upon final completion.
