BREAKING! Lira City Town Clerk Dies In Motor Vehicle Accident

The Lira City Town Clerk has died in a nasty motor vehicle accident at a place called Barajet along Lira-Aduku road in Kole District.


According Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, Theophilus Tibihika died this morning, 27th May, 2024 at about 2:00AM.


Tibihika is believed to have been driving back to his work place, Lira City from Ntungamo where he had gone for a weekened.


Okema, who confirmed the death says the deceased died instantly after he lost control while driving his own vehicle Registration number plate UAM 450V.


“The territorial command in North Kyoga Region led by the Regional Traffic Officer are closely investigating a single fatal accident involving motor vehicle Reg No UAM 450V which was being driven by Mr Tibihika Theophilus after getting involved in an accident,” Okema noted.


According to Okema, it’s alleged that Tibihika on the 27th May 2024 at around 0200 hours in a place Barajet area along Lira-Aduku road in Kole District lost control while driving himself in a motorvehicle and allegedly overturned several times killing him instantly.


Police traffic led by the Regional Traffic Officer of North Kyoga, Mathias Okwir and District Traffic Officer Kole reportedly responded to the scene.


A sketch map was drawn and his body removed and conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary pending postmortem.


Meanwhile his car has been taken to Akalo police station pending IOV inspections as the cause of the accident is yet to be established.


The PRO however stated that their preliminary findings indicate that the deceased could have been over speeding.


Robert Okello Ayo, the Lira City spokesperson said that meeting is underway at the City Board room to plan for the burial arrangements in consultation with the family of the deceased.


Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Opio, the Chancellor of Lira Catholic Diocese who doubles as a Parish Priest of Lira Cathedral Parish says the Lira City community entirely has lost a great personality in the names of Tibihika, who had real passion for developing the City.


By the time of his death, Tibihika was due to report to Mbarara University of Sciences and Technology (MUST) as University Secretary, having emerged the best in a rigorous interview process.
