The regional coordinator of Patriotic League Uganda (PLU) in Bugisu sub region and Member of Parliament (MP) for Bungokho Central County, Richard Wanda, was on Monday afternoon 27 May 2024, booed out of a community in his constituency.
In a video, the MP and his team, who were in one of the communities to make a temporary bridge in Shisinyo village, Bufuya parish in Bumbobi sub county, Bungokho central constituency, are seen being attacked by angry residents who were heard shouting a phrase from VVIP ‘s song “Away!!!, Away!!!, Away!!!”
Some residents, who spoke to this reporter, said they’ve lost patience with the Richard Wanda who thinks less about the situation.
The situation, they claimed has made it difficult as commercial drivers refuse to travel to certain parts of the area.
Many have become victims to recurring theft in the community during late hours due to the bad nature of the bridges.
“I have stayed in Bungokho central for several years and we voted for MP (Richard Wanda) but he thinks less about the roads and bridges in this area which is very important to us. He doesn’t care about us for years now there has been zero development,” one resident said.
According to chairman LC 2, Robert Mabonga of Bufuya parish in Bumbobi Sub County, the constituent residents booed the MP’s convoy that sped off the area out of shame because they were angered by the fact the MP failed to honour his promise to the people of the area.
The constituent residents were peeved because the honorable Member of Parliament failed to fulfill certain promises made to them during the 2021 polls.
The coordinator PLU in Bugisu Sub region hon. Richard Wanda, entered Parliament in 2021.
