The Member of Parliament for Lwemiyaga, Theodore Ssekikubo has attacked and branded the opposition Members of Parliament as cowards after they chickened out from signing the motion to censure the four parliamentary commissioners who awarded themselves a whooping Shs1.7billion in Service Awards.

Last week, Ssekikubo moved a motion in Parliament to censure legislators who include, Zombo district woman MP, Esther Afoyochan, Rubanda district woman MP, Prossy Akampulira, MP Bukooli central, Solomon Silwany and Mathias Mpuuga, Nyendo – Mukungwe MP.

Ssekikubo said that he just wanted 177 signatures from his fellow MPs and called out the MPs who came to Parliament chest thumping that they are going to fight corruption.

According to Ssekikubo, he had hoped to have gathered all the necessary signatures by the end of this week.

“Clean leadership has been the hall mark of NRM, we fight for accountability and transparency. By the way if you have noted, it is the NRM MPs at the fore front of this. The opposition are wobbling, they are looking through the windows, in the corridors, they run very fast, they aren’t putting their heads high,” Ssekikubo said on Monday, 27th May, 2024.

From the Censure motion update, opposition MPs have shied away from the process and it’s NRM MPs who are at the forefront.

Ssekikubo also revealed that the embattled commissioners have now sought solace from the Speaker to save them.
