Police in Bulambuli are holding a 36 Year old businesswoman for torturing her 8 year old biological daughter, Namataka Sarah, a primary three pupil at Masira primary school in Bulambuli district.
Constance Nakayenze, a resident of Kidiba village, Buzemunwa Parish, Bufumbo Sub County tortured her daughter for eating an ovacado she had left in the house without her permission.
The alleged torture happened on Wednesday 29th May 2024, when Nakayenze subjected her daughter to torture and thereafter locked her inside a house where she fed the girl with sunflower seeds for fear that it might come to the attention of police and other authorities.
The police CID Officer for Buginyanya police station, Mr James Mutai, says community members who knew what was happening tipped off one of the area community workers who later called the police to rescue the starving child who was also in pain because of the torture.
“The girl has been under torture from the cruel mother; we got her starving and in serious pain being locked in the house,” said Mutai on Thursday evening.
He said police quickly responded and the mother was apprehended and is in police custody and will be charged to court appropriately.
It’s not the first time that this woman has done this to her daughter according to neighbours.
Police has warned the community in general against child abuse and told them to refrain from inflicting pain on young children either physically, emotionally or psychologically as it will also get them to be prosecuted.
