Busiro, Mawokota Dominate Masaza Boat Cruise Competition

People who hail from Mawokota and Busiro county were on May, 31, 2024,  full of joy and ecstasy after their respective counties dominated the Masaza boat cruise competition held at Nakiwogo fishing site in Entebbe Municipality.
  Mawokota county saw off other sixteen counties in Buganda region to emerge winners in the 1km race while Busiro county were victors in the 500 meters race.
In the 1km boat race , Buddu county was the runner up while Buvuma was second runner up and each county was awarded Shs 100,000 and Shs. 200,000 respectively. Winners Mawokota was awarded Shs.600,000.
In  the 500 meters boat race, victors  Busiro county was awarded Shs 400,000. Runners up Buddu got Shs . 200,00 and second runner up Mawokota recieved Shs. 100,000.
Mrs. Hellen Nagirinya was declared the best among female participants and was awarded Shs.100,000.
The speaker of Buganda Lukiiko (parliament) Owek. Patrick Luwaga Mukumbule, thanked Buganda kingdom for organizing the boat race saying engaging in such competiton enables participants to be physically fit.
Similarly, nine counties(Masaza) have progressed to the finals which will be held at Busabala one Love Beach on August 24, 2024. The qualified nine counties include Busiro, Bulemezi, Mawokota, Kyagwe,and  Buvuma among others.
Meanwhile, the boat race competition was attended by a number of dignitaries including the Buganda Kingdom sports  Minister Robert Serwanga,  Entebbe Municipality Legislator Hon. Michael Kakembo Mbwatekamwa and sports personality Eng. Ben Missaga.
