Prime Minister Launches Construction of Namagumba -Budadiri-Nalugugu Road

The Prime Minister of Uganda Robinah Nabbanja has today Wednesday, 5th June 2024 launched the construction of 39km Namagumba -Budadiri -Nalugugu road.


The ground breaking ceremony was held at Nakiwondye playgrounds in Nakiwondye town council in Sironko district and the 39km road will be upgraded from gravel to tarmac.


Samuel Muhoozi, the manager in charge of roads and bridges at UNRA who represented the Director roads and bridge development at UNRA revealed that the road will not only facilitate the movement of people and goods but also boost the tourism sector because it connects to Mt. Elgon National park.


He added that the road will have different projects like construction of Mutufu market, Budadiri health center 4 aiming at bettering the people’s lives and all affected people are to be compensated before the construction starts.


Isaiah Sasaga, the MP for Budadiri West said this road has been an issue to all leaders in Sironko for a very long time and called on the people to welcome the project.


Nathan Nandala Mafabi, Member of Parliament representing Budadiri West constituency has urged government to speed up the compensation of the affected people.


Livingston Gilulu, the LCV Chairperson of Sironko urged people in the district to use the road for development after its construction is complete.


He says that most of the people in the district are farmers so they will be able to use that road for transporting their agricultural products.
