NAMISINDWA
Muslims from 22 mosques across Namisindwa district have asked the Ministry of Education and Sports to recognize their Islamic Faith Teaching Schools commonly known as Madarasa and give it a Code.
Madarasa schools are the kind of schools that teach children about Islamic faith, dressing code, and how to read the Quaran.
While conducting Idd Aduha prayers on Sunday, 16th June, 2024 at Lwakhakha Town Council Play Ground which gathered Muslims from all 22 mosques in the entire Namisindwa and others from Kenya neighborhood, then some from Manafwa district, Muhammed Twakha Musisi, the county Khadi said the entire Manafwa and Namisindwa has only one madarasa school known as Lwakhakha madarasa school located at Lwakhakha town council town in Namisindwa district but is in poor conditions, not coded by government and has only one teacher who is even paid by parents.
He says that the school is supposed to have more than seven teachers with enough classrooms to accommodate a bigger number of children who come from within the district, neighboring Kenya and Manafwa.
Musisi also urged their area members of parliament and the district to help them and process the coding of the school such that government can consider it like other schools.
Musisi says that currently Muslims youths are being spoiled in terms of dressing cod, using drugs among others because they were not taught through Madarasa schools.
John Musila, the area Member of Parliament representing Bubulo East constituency in Namisindwa district who also attended the prayers as chief guest said that he is the one who created that school in 2017 while he was LC5 chairperson of Manafwa district when Namisindwa was still under Manafwa.
He says that as the area MP, he is going to lead a delegation from the district and some few Muslim leaders from Manafwa and Namisindwa to the ministry of Education and sports to demand for coding next week.
He says that these Madarasa schools have shaped the manners of young children so there is no way of refusing to consider them.
Alex Molokoi, Namisindwa district education committee chairperson who represented LCV chairperson at prayers expressed his happiness with Musila’s message saying as a district, they are ready to back him with all necessary support.
He says that it’s good for young children to be raised on a religious background as a way of shaping their future.
