As the drive to have four Members of Parliamentary Commission censured over the controversial Service Awards gains momentum, this website has received reliable information that only 13 MPs from Bugisu Sub region have signed the motion as of 27th June, 2024.

This was revealed to this reporter by Tororo District Woman Member of Parliament, Sarah Opendi while getting the signature of Apollo Masika, MP Namisindwa County in Namisindwa district on Thursday at his home located at senior quarters in Mbale City.

Recently, Sarah Opendi woman member of parliament representing Tororo district with her counterpart Barnabas Tinkasimire of  Buyaga West constituency started collecting signatures of censuring four commissioners Solomon Silwany, Esther Afoyochan, Prossy Mbabazi Akampurira and Mathias Mpuuga of National Unity Platform for getting Shs1.7B tax payers money which the two legislators term as corruption.

Opendi told this website that so far, their move is going on well because they need only nine signatures to hit the target of a third as the law requires.

She says that in Bugisu, some Members of Parliament have refused to append their signatures over unknown reasons saying this is kind of promoting corruption in the country which they have to fight.

Opendi revealed the 13 MPs in Bugisu sub region who had by Thursday, 27th June, appended their signatures.

They are; Gerald Nangoli of Elgon North constituency in Bulambuli district, Isaac Katenya of Bulambuli county, Karim Masaba of Industrial City Division, Richard Wanda of Bungokho Central, Robert Wandwasi of Bungokho South, and Seith Wambende of Northern City Division.
